According to Benjamin Forbes, in a letter to Clarke Pratt Pond dated 7 Mar 1946: "The one in the oval frame is that of our great grandmother, Sallie Frisbie, of West Port, N.Y. she was blind. I have heard mother tell of her getting up one winter's night, and going out alone, and getting lost. They had a big dog which stayed with her and it is my recollection that the family found them huddled in a fence corner in the morning. The warmth of the dog's body probably kept our great grandmother from freezing to death."

According to Benjamin Forbes, in a letter to Clarke Pratt Pond dated 7 Mar 1946: "The picture in the square framed effect is from the small daguerreotype of Sally Frisbie’s daughter, our grand-mother, Mrs. Emeline Frisbie Pond. According to the legend accompanying the picture, which you will recall is in my mother’s hand writing, the picture was taken at Rochester N.Y. in 1848, when grandmother was 39 years of age. Since this was the year in which the Pond family migrated from Vermont to Cleveland, via the Erie Canal, when there was a tie- up for two or three weeks due to a break in the canal, it is quite possible that this break occurred somewhere near Rochester, and that the young folks whiled away some of the weary hours getting their pictures taken."

Clarke Pond held patents for a variety of interesting things. The earliest Patent I can find, for Bridal Bits ^[١], is dated 3 Dec 1889 and is witnessed by his father Jared Frisbie Pond. He also held patterns for a variety of industrial window and door mechanisms along with the car trunk^[٢] and a spring suspension like that used in many modern vehicles.^[٣]

He is listed as being on the Board of Meade Roofing & Cornice Co. in 1906. He was also an executive in the Budd Company where he is noted in one obituary as being "...one of the earliest developers of stainless steel trailers and railroad cars...".

He is noted as being a Mason and member of the Union League.
