Tales of the Yellow Emperor preserve an account of his journey across the East Sea where he met an entity called "Bai Ze" who taught him the names of all things. This is interesting in light of a contemporary civilization on the west coast of South American in Peru called the Caral-Supe civilization (also called the Norte Chico Civilization) who also used the Quipu.

This is a period contemporaneous with the accounts of the Yellow Emperor. This artifact could prove the existence of ancient contact and cultural interchange between the civilizations. Did the Yellow Emperor introduce the concept of the Quipu to the New World even as he worked to abandon its use in China?
